sensXPERT, a pioneer in advanced manufacturing technologies, is pleased to announce its upcoming webinar, titled “sensXPERT – Digitizing Automotive Composite Manufacturing Using Real-Time Material Characterisation.” The webinar will take place on October 12th at 5:00 PM CET, introducing the audience to cutting-edge solutions to enhance the quality, efficiency, and sustainability of automotive composite manufacturing.

In today’s automotive industry, reducing waste and consistently delivering top-notch components are paramount goals. Technology plays a pivotal role in helping automotive companies achieve these objectives, maintain supply chain visibility, and adapt to disruptions. Furthermore, advancements in automation, sensors, and artificial intelligence technology are enabling a harmonious blend of cost-effectiveness and sustainability.

Manufacturing polymer composites poses challenges due to factors like variations in material batches, environmental conditions, and complex material behaviors. These challenges often lead to unpredictable part quality, extended cycle times, heavy reliance on post-production quality control, and substantial waste.

The sensXPERT webinar, presented by Alec Redmann, sensXPERT Business Development Manager at NETZSCH Instruments, will showcase the integration of dielectric sensors, machine learning, and material models in real-time monitoring, prediction, and optimisation during the manufacturing process for individual parts. These sensors capture critical process data, including flow front, viscosity, glass transition temperature, and degree of cure, which serve as the foundation for training machine learning models. These models, in turn, make predictions based on material kinetics, allowing equipment settings to be dynamically adjusted to ensure consistent quality and optimised cycle times.

Alec is specialised in the development of thermal analysis technology for polymer and composite materials. His current focus involves implementing solutions for in-mold material characterisation and dynamic process control. Prior to joining NETZSCH, Alec worked in composite manufacturing and R&D roles in the wind energy and sports industries. Alec holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Polymer Engineer Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Agenda for the Webinar:

  • Material knowledge at the heart of process enhancement: Learn about dielectric analysis measurement principles.
  • Discover how sensXPERT provides part manufacturers with a novel solution to enhance sustainability, efficiency, and reduce energy consumption, all while generating traceable data for each produced part.
  • Case study: How a global technology company in the automotive industry developed an efficient electronics encapsulation process for high-power electronic components for eMobility.
  • Case study: Reducing waste and enabling a fully automated thermoplastic resin transfer molding process (T-RTM) for composite EV battery enclosures.

Join us on October 12th at 5:00 PM CET. Registrations for the webinar are limited and can be made by clicking here
