The UK & Ireland Chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) will be hosting its Annual Seminar at Cranfield University, Milton Keynes, on 28th April 2022.

The Seminar will cover innovations made to novel sustainable transport solutions with advancements in the composites industry. The event follows the Chapter’s annual releases that have run for many years, and continue to address aspects of advanced composite design, manufacture, and application.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, SAMPE realises the evident challenges that face global sustainability and the threat of climate change. With a focus on the transport sector, the seminar will discuss the revolutionary innovations that can and have already been implemented to improve and advance the industry along with its carbon footprint.

Exploring developments in composite material processes, topics will include:

  • New methods of propulsion and energy sources.
  • Recycling and reforming end-of-life structures.
  • New transport solutions, from electric scooters to Advanced Air Mobility.
  • Demand for automated manufacturing processes and the sustainability in its materials.

Top industry manufacturers in composite material and engineering solutions will be exhibiting their skills and applications for the transport sector, such as automated systems manufacturer Airborne, recycled composite provider Gen 2 Carbon, and composite cutting innovator Sharp & Tappin.

Opening introductions and closing remarks will be led by Tim Wybrow, Chairman of SAMPE UK & Ireland, starting from 9am till 4pm. “We provide exclusive opportunities to network and connect in meetings, lunches, and exhibitor presentations,” said Tim, regarding the upcoming seminar. “This is a pivotal time for advancing our knowledge for sustainability after coming through such a damaging pandemic. Focus on the transport sector is key to limiting our reliance on fossil fuels and improving our global carbon footprint.”

The SAMPE Annual Seminar 2022 is kindly sponsored by Nèos International, The University of Nottingham, and Cranfield University.
