If 2025 had a theme at Fluency, it would probably be momentum. The kind that comes from a lot of planning, a fair amount of graft, and the occasional sprint through an airport when perhaps common sense would suggest otherwise.

It was a year of change, consolidation, growth, and a few moments where we stopped, looked around, and thought, ‘Yes, this is exactly why we do what we do.’

Here are some of the highlights.

January: A New Look and a Clearer Structure

We kicked off the year by rebranding Fluency and launching our new website, formally introducing four distinct business units: Fluency Exchange, Fluency Marketing, Fluency Events, and Fluency People.

This was not a cosmetic exercise. It was the result of two years of thinking, testing, and refining how we best serve our clients across growth strategy, marketing, events, and talent. The new structure provided clarity both internally and externally, setting the tone for the year ahead.

February: Southern Manufacturing and a New Stand Concept

February saw us at Southern Manufacturing, this time with a newly launched stand concept. Practical, flexible and very Fluency, it marked the start of a busy events calendar and gave us our first chance of the year to reconnect with clients and industry friends face-to-face.

March: JEC World and The Power of Composites

March was all about JEC World. Alongside the usual whirlwind of meetings, conversations, and kilometres walked, we completed The Power of Composites project for JEC Group.

Seeing it showcased at JEC World was a proud moment, and even more so watching it live on as a dedicated platform for architectural composites at www.composites.archi. A project rooted in deep industry knowledge, brought to life through collaboration.

April: A New Chapter for ICS and MRO Americas

April marked a significant milestone as we launched the International Composites Summit in its new format, with Fluency as the sole owner, following Composites UK’s step away from the joint venture.

At the same time, we headed to MRO Americas with ST Engineering MRAS, supporting their presence and continuing a partnership we are proud of.

May: 100 Kilometres, One Charity, and a Flight to Indianapolis

May deserves a special mention. Gemma and Colin walked 100 kilometres for Mind, raising money for a charity close to our hearts. No rest afterwards, though. They went straight from the finish line to the airport to cover SAMPE in Indianapolis.

Gemma did much of it on crutches. We do not recommend this as a business travel strategy, but it did sum up the year rather well.

June: JEC Middle East

In June, we supported JEC Middle East by assisting with programming and logistics. It was another reminder of how global the composites and advanced engineering community really is, and how much value comes from connecting the right people in the right room.

July: Four businesses, Two Years in the Making

By July, we were entering the final stage of planning for our four business units. After two years of groundwork, it felt like everything was aligning. The rebrand was behind us, the structure was in place, and the team was fully integrated into how we now operate. On to the business set-up.

August: Client Visits and CAMX Preparations

August took us on the road, including client site visits and a stop in Middle River to see ST Engineering MRAS. These visits are always invaluable, not just for project delivery, but for staying grounded in our clients’ realities.

We also finalised arrangements for CAMX, setting the stage for a busy autumn.

September: ICS Innovation Hub at CAMX

September saw the launch of our first ICS Innovation Hub at CAMX, alongside the Fluency and MRAS stands, and managing the headline sponsorship for the event. It was a new concept for us, and one we are excited about. Creating focused spaces for innovation, conversation, and visibility proved its value straight away.

October: Advanced Engineering at Full Throttle

October was intense. We delivered another ICS Innovation Hub at the Advanced Engineering Show, ran our own stand, delivered AM2 Forum content, and provided operational support across all forums.

It was one of those months where teamwork really showed. Everyone stepped up, and everything got done.

November: Our First Guide

In November, we published our first guide, focusing on market mapping. It was something we had discussed for a while, and it felt good to put structured thinking and practical insight into a format that clients could really use.

December: ICS Takes Centre Stage

We closed the year with the first International Composites Summit, wholly owned and delivered by Fluency. Visitors joined us from around the globe, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

It was a fitting way to end the year, and a clear signal that the decision to take ICS forward independently was the right one.

The bigger picture

Alongside all of this, we are particularly proud of a few notable results.

We retained 100 percent of our clients, and, of course, we were pleased to welcome some new ones.

The team’s hard work resulted in increased revenue and margin, while overheads decreased.

And perhaps most importantly, we continued to work as a genuinely collaborative, supportive, and committed team.

Looking ahead

2025 was busy, challenging, rewarding, and occasionally a little chaotic. However, it was also a year when long-term plans became a reality, ideas turned into action, and Fluency continued to move in the right direction.

Thank you to our clients, partners, families, and friends who were part of the journey. Onwards.
